As God is my witness

I was in LA at the time of the trial of O J Simpson for the murder of his ex wife Nicole Simpson and her lover Ron Goldman.   It was a daily televised media circus and ultimatley led to the evolution of the ‘cult of celebrity’ thanks to the progeny of one Robert Kardashian who was part of Simpson’s defense ‘Dream Team’.   The trial ultimately became a symbol of division between black and white in the USA. Simpson was found ’not guilty’ by the largely African American jury and the result split the nation.   This work was based on a statement made by someone after the trial who said that ultimately Simpson would one day have to answer to God. Simpson is still a free man despite being found guilty of both deaths by a civil trial bought by the victims families in 1997.
