Blessed are the Peacemakers
This tryptch is about the Irish Peace Process which began in 1994 and eventually led to the Good Friday Agreement. This was the first time that both sides of the political divide in Northern Ireland agreed to come together to discuss a ceasefire. The paintings feature Gerry Adams of Sinn Fein on the left panel along with various symbology and motifs often seen in the catholic areas. The middle panel features British Prime Minister John Major, the Irish Taoiseach Albert Reynolds and the US President Bill Clinton who all acted as mediators at Stormont, the political seat of Northern Ireland. In the right hand panel I feature Ian Paisley, leader of the Democratic Unionist Party and again the symbols and motifs of protestant areas.
